Why do people flock to see these "spiritual" men?. The answer is very simple. Human mind yearns for some solace and some comfort that the mysery engulfing them will disappear. To perpetuate the faith of the people, some "arranged" miracles attributed to these "saints" are spread by some unscrupulous men. I have actually seen some of these men/woman planted outside these ashrams spreading the news of the "so-called miracles'.
Let me come to "Swami Nityananda". I went to his ashram along with my wife and son to attend a yoga programme. The contents of the programme were good, though the teacher was immature.Particularly, some of the statements made by him elevating Nityananda to Godly status showed how immature he could be.After the programme, we waited for the "Darshan" of the Swami for two hours. When my turn came to see him,he kept me waiting. Instead of looking at me, he was conversing with someone behind him about late arrival of some license. After some time, he threw some "Vibuthi" in my hands. I then felt that the Swami was no different than me. He was as interested in worldly affairs such as license as any other ordinary human being. I expressed this opinion to my friend Sivaguru
Mr Sivaguru had worked with me in the Zonal Office of UCO BANK in Chennai for six months. In fact, he was responsible for my moving out of the Bank and looking for jobs in the private sector. He was constantly telling me that I should not waste my talents in a public sector bank. It was this that prompted me to think in that direction. After his retirement, Mr Sivaguru joined the ashram of Swami Nityananda to loook after administration. Not only that, he also asked his only son who was working in Wipro to resign his job and join the ashram. Such was his faith in the Swami.
It was at the instance and request of Sivaguru, we attended the yoga programme in the ashram at Bangalore. Before that, Kaushal had also attended a progrmme of Swamiji in Bangalore and he was impressed.
I was not overtly surprised when I saw some pictures of Swami Nityananda with a Tamil film actress, in unusual poses in Sun News TV. Initially, there was some doubt in my find as to whether the pictures have been taken with a duplicate. Repeated looks at these pictures convinced me that it was only the swami who was doing all these "blessings" to a female devotee..
What a shame ! What a come down?. Once the news spread, people started attacking his ashrams all over Tamilnadu, including some his disciplines
Jayendrar of Kanchi Mutt first and Nityanada now, have lowered the image of Indian saints.
However, I have still great admiration for Satya Sai Bhaba, Mata Amritanandmayee and "Amma" of Melmaruvattur. These hight motivated spiritual people are doing lot of social service. While Satya Sai Bhabha has arranged for irrigation facilities in some of the villages in Andhra/Tamilnadu, Mata Amridanandamayee and " Amma" have provided a lot for free medical facilities for the poor and good education for the under-priveleged.
In the past, great saints have lived in India. I can think of Sami Chandrasekhar Saraswathi of Kanchi Mutt and Sri Rmana Maharishi. And when these saints blessed, people really benefitted. It is only when the successor to the Seniro Pontiff at Kanchi started collecting money for the Mutt, all the problems started. I personally know of two Chartered Accounts who have mad immnse money using Kanchi Mutt
Money and woman have been responsible for the fall of all these new "spiritual" men.
