Strange,but,True

I am beginning to type this mail in a very happy frame of mind.

Recently, through a friend I have come to know that my prayers made in 1959 have been answered.Let me explain in detail.

I had seen death from very close quarters in 1959, when my maternal grand-mother died in Tiruchirapalli. She died after lunch and I was given the task of informing all close relatives about the death. As we did not have telephone then at our house, I went to Teppakulam Post Office to send telegrams and also to talk to my uncle in Tirunelveli. On his arrival, we took the "body" to the funeral ground. There were only eight people present including me. As a 19 year old boy, that was my first visit to the burial ground.

When we were half-way through with the necessary religious rites, another "body" arrived and placed next to my grandmother!s body. It was that of a young lawyer by the name Sankaranarayanan who was a practising lawyer from Andar Street.I had seen him in Lawyer!s garb quite a few times., He had died very young. (he was 31 then).Suddenly, all of us heard a female voice crying inconsolably and in a very loud manner. It was the wife of Mr Sankarnarayan. She was just married a year before and was carrying a child. Her relatives tired to take her away from the "samsan ghat",but she stayed put holding her husband!s head in her hands crying very badly. In those days, ladies were not allowed into the burial ground. Even now, very few ladies are present in "samsan ghats". This created a deep impact on me. I prayed then that the child she was carrying should bring a lot joy and happines for the lady in future. I used to remember this scene whenever I visited
Tiruchirappali and passing through Andar Street.

A week ago, I was talking to a friend from Tiruchi. From him I came to know that the lady was blessed with a son after the death of her husband and this son was holding a number two post in a big I.T company in Bannerghatta Road, the same road where I live. My friend was not able to throw any light as to whether the lady was still alive. I am sure she would have been kept very happy by her son.

Genuine prayers are always answered. I believe in the famous words of John Galsworthy "more things are wraught by prayer than this world dreams of".

I am planning to meet this boy one of these days. How and when, I do not know.

I do not even know his name. All I know is that I will be very pleased to see him. I am sure that God will ensure that our paths cross each other in a few months time.
